On January 21, 2014 (State Journal 2014 no. 8) the law determining the status of persons of Surinamese Origin (PSA) and the rights and obligations stemming from that status was proclaimed by the President of the Republic of Suriname. Through this law, the people of Surinamese origin have the ability to activate the status of People of Surinamese Descent (PSA).
